What type of person could be enrolling on the FREC 3 course?

We have a number of people who want to undertake roles within: event first aid, fire the emergency services (fire, ambulance, firearms), close protection operatives, (this qualification is recognised by the Security Industries Authority SIA). Expedition leaders UK and overseas, journalists working overseas, researchers working overseas, film crews, aid workers in hostile or disaster prone countries, community responders in the UK, as well as those in high risk work environments in the UK and overseas and offshore workers.

Covered on the course is:

Unit 1 First Response Emergency Care Learning Outcomes.

 

  1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first responder providing emergency care.
  2. Be able to assess an incident.
  3. Be able to assess a patient.
  4. Be able to assess a  patient’s airway.
  5. Be able to manage a patient’s airway. (Oropharyngeal and Nasopharyngeal Airways)
  6. Be able to manage an unresponsive patient who is not breathing normally.
  7. Be able to use appropriate equipment during a resuscitation attempt.
  8. Be able to administer emergency oxygen.

 

Unit 2 First Response Emergency Care of Trauma Learning Outcomes.

 

  1. Be able to manage catastrophic bleeding. (Use of Haemostats and Tourniquets)
  2. Be able to manage a patient who is in shock.
  3. Be able to manage a patient who is bleeding.
  4. Know how to manage a patient with burns or scald.
  5. Know how to manage a  patient with minor injuries.
  6. Know how to manage a patient with sudden poisoning.
  7. Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with head and spinal injuries.
  8. Be able to provide emergency care to a patient with injuries to bones, muscles and joints.

 

Unit 3 First Response Emergency Care of Medical Conditions Learning Outcomes.

  1. Understand how to identify a patient with breathing difficulties.
  2. Understand how to manage a patient with breathing difficulties.
  3. Know how to manage a patient with anaphylaxis.
  4. Know how to manage a patient with suspected  major illness.
  5. Know how to manage a patient who is in seizure.
  6. Understand how to provide emergency care for the effects of environmental exposure.

 

As we have access to spaces to hold real life practical demonstrations, all learners get a true and full experience in their role and as the FREC 3 course is

delivered by a paramedic of over 35 years, the scenarios and explanations are real.

Everything that is taught and learnt is put into relevant context, so you have the theoretical side, as well as the practical side, as well as the contextual aspects. This ensures you leave with confidence and competence in your new roles.
