Description

A new way of undertaking your Combined First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid qualification.  This comprehensive course is ideal for schools, sports clubs, or childcare settings where both first aiders and paediatric first aiders are required to meet HSE, EYFS and OFSTED requirements. With online learning and 2 days in the classroom, whilst still meeting all your HSE, EYFS and OFSTED requirements to be registered as a childcare setting.

You are sent an online login link that directs you to the course. This course can be dipped in and out of, you do not have to complete it in one session.

We do recommend that you complete this close to the classroom date as the certificate must be brought in with you on day 1 of the classroom part.

This course meets the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the requirements in the Government document First Aid in Schools, Early Years and Further Education (updated 14/2/22)’ Where, within this document it states

'While the regulations do not require employers to provide first aid for anyone other than their own employees, it is strongly recommended that all schools and colleges consider the needs of non-employees such as pupils, students and visitors when making provision for first aid.'

The course content is:

  • General actions in an emergency including the roles and responsibilities required
  • Incident and casualty assessments
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques for adults, children and infants, AED use and assessment of
  • Recovery position
  • Choking management
  • Seizures including febrile convulsions
  • Control bleeding and manage wounds
  • Minor injuries
  • Respiratory system and hypoxia
  • Chest injuries 
  • Asthma and hyperventilation 
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Different types of shock
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Angina, heart attacks and strokes
  • Poisons and poisoning
  • Burns and scalds
  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains and the application of slings
  • Head and spinal injuries
  • Electric shock
  • Diabetes
  • Meningitis
  • Secondary survey 

To bear in mind: To requalify after 3 years, the full 3 day course will need to be completed.

Prerequisites

Please ensure that the online part of the training has been completed prior to attending the classroom part of the course.

A photo of the ELearn certificate must be produced on the day.
