We have been welcomed on board as the main sponsor of Huddersfield Giants Women Rugby Team for the 2022 Betfred Women’s Super League season.

The announcement on 24/11/2021 read

This happens as this amazing team progresses into elite status of Super League.

For the 2022 season, the players will be proudly wearing their playing kit with our Purple Dog logo on the front of their shirts.

Helen said to Lisa Darwin (the CEO of the Huddersfield Team, “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be the main sponsor for the Giants Women’s Team. As a business woman and Director of Purple Dog, with the support of my husband and fellow Director Steve Moss, it wasn’t a difficult decision for us to make.

I feel very strongly about supporting the mental and emotional well-being of women. I can see that Rugby and sport makes a huge impact to the players well-being, helping boost self-esteem, build resilience and can create such close and supportive bonds.

Steve was a semi-professional Rugby League player – now I have the same passion and determination for the sport as he has.”

After a remarkable end to the 2021 season, Giants Women finished as Shield Winners, with a nail biting finale, and claiming the trophy with a 2 point victory over Featherstone Rovers.

Helen and Steve were there at Headingley on the day. Helen adds “It was an amazing afternoon, from then we knew we wanted to be involved. I believe in Huddersfield Giants Women’s and I can’t wait to see what the season has in store for us!”

As the first official partner for 2022 announced, Lisa Darwin, CEO of HGCT comments: “We are delighted to welcome Helen and Steve on board as the Main Sponsor for 2022. Having known and worked closely with Purple Dog over the last few years I know they will be the perfect fit to help drive and support the Women’s game and the Team over the next 12 months.”

What I can say is #womenempoweringwomen is seen so clearly on the pitch. The team play as one, led by the captain Bethan Oates who only starting playing rugby at 19 years old!
